The Military Pensions Board (MPB) has begun implementing newly approved pension rates and paying applicable arrears to military pensioners following the implementation of the new minimum wage.
The board said the applicable arrears would be paid into pensioners’ accounts from Friday, October 2, as the new pension rates are implemented. The MPB said the implementation and payment process had been completed by the board.
The MPB disclosed this in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Sqn.-Ldr. Aliyu Mohammed, on Friday in Abuja.
Mohammed said the adjustment followed the implementation of the new minimum wage and that the applicable arrears would be paid into pensioners’ accounts from October 2.
According to him, the board had processed the implementation of the new pension rates and payment of the applicable arrears.
“The board appreciates the patience, understanding and cooperation demonstrated by military pensioners throughout the implementation process,” he said.
Mohammed reaffirmed the board’s commitment to timely payment of pensions and continuous improvement of pension administration.
He said the MPB also acknowledged the invaluable service and sacrifices of Nigeria’s military veterans.
He urged pensioners to continue to cooperate with the board as it strives to improve pension administration and service delivery.
