Ondo State joined other states on Tuesday at a nationwide forum aimed at advancing women’s economic empowerment across the country.
Officials from the Ondo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development participated in the Nigeria Governors’ Forum States Knowledge Exchange Visit Programme held in Lagos State.
The two-day forum brought together stakeholders to examine strategies for implementing the National Women Economic Empowerment Policy at the state level.
Representing Ondo State at the event were the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Bosede Osamaye; the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kolawole Kayode; and the Gender Desk Officer, Mrs. Omowole Opeyemi.
The delegation stated that implementing the Women Economic Empowerment Policy in Ondo State would help reduce poverty among women, while promoting inclusive economic growth and strengthening gender equality.
According to the officials, the policy is intended to ensure that women enjoy equal access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making processes, while improving their financial independence and economic wellbeing.
The ministry also commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his sustained support for women-focused programmes and his inclusive style of governance.
It added that the administration’s commitment to advancing women’s development in the state deserves recognition.
“Congratulations in advance to Ondo State women,” the statement concluded.
