The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced registration for the third phase of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI) in Yobe State, with plans to provide skills training and employment opportunities to 26,961 unemployed residents.
The directorate announced that the registration portal went live on Thursday, 23 July, and that registration is currently ongoing across the state.
According to the NDE, the programme is open to unemployed residents aged between 18 and 35 from all 17 local government areas of Yobe State. It said the initiative is intended to reduce unemployment, promote self-reliance, and support the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda on job creation, human capital development, and poverty reduction.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Damaturu by the NDE Yobe Information Officer, Ibrahim Umar Tijjani.
Speaking through the statement, the Yobe State Coordinator of the NDE, Binta Aliyu, said the third phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative is designed to equip unskilled and unemployed Nigerians with practical skills in agriculture, entrepreneurship, information and communication technology (ICT), vocational trades, and special public works.
Aliyu explained that beneficiaries would be selected from every council ward across the state’s 17 local government areas to ensure equitable representation.
She also disclosed that the programme is open to persons with disabilities, adding that the initiative reflects President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by expanding access to skills development and creating more opportunities for young Nigerians.
According to Aliyu, applicants who benefited from the first and second phases of the programme will not be eligible for the current phase, as the directorate aims to give new applicants the opportunity to participate.
She further stated that registration is free and ongoing through the NDE registration portal. Applicants requiring assistance were advised to visit the NDE Yobe office at the Federal Secretariat, Gashua Road, Damaturu.
Aliyu added that the initiative places special emphasis on women, youths, and other vulnerable groups as part of efforts to improve livelihoods and promote self-employment.
