Ogun Youths May Get More Jobs, Digital Skills Training Under Proposed Plan

By Deborah Bodunde

Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, has pledged to expand employment opportunities for young people through digital skills development, vocational training and investment in the creative industry if elected governor in 2027.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, said his proposed administration would prioritise youth empowerment and equip young people with skills to compete in the labour market and establish businesses.
He made the pledge at the “Gen-Z Asks, Yayi Listens” programme organised by Haleemah Ogogo in Abeokuta.
The senator representing Ogun West said his previous interventions in information and communication technology (ICT) had helped train and empower thousands of young people.
He disclosed that while serving as a legislator in Lagos State, he facilitated the training and certification of more than 10,000 youths in ICT and provided them with computers to improve their digital skills and employment prospects.
Adeola said several beneficiaries had secured opportunities abroad or established their own ICT businesses.
He added that approximately 12,000 youths and students had benefited from similar training and laptop distribution programmes since his election as senator representing Ogun West.
The governorship candidate also said he had facilitated the construction of 18 modern ICT centres across Ogun State to improve access to digital education and technology.
He further disclosed that six skills acquisition centres had been facilitated to equip young people with practical and vocational skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
On employment generation, Adeola said his interventions had created job opportunities for at least 200 people in various government agencies.
He pledged to expand such opportunities if elected governor, adding that the creative and entertainment industry would be a major focus of his proposed administration because of its potential to generate employment and stimulate economic activities.
