No fewer than eighty workers in the Oyo State civil service have completed an intensive three-week programme designed to equip them with hands-on computer skills.
The training, held at the Simeon Adebo Staff Development Centre, Ibadan, is aimed at upgrading workforce capacity and making government services quicker and more effective across all MDAs.
According to the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the programme shows the government’s focus on building a future-ready public service.
“The three-week intensive training programme in Basic Computer Operation and Application is designed to strengthen digital skills, improve workplace efficiency and enhance service delivery across Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state,” Oyelade said.
The Head of Service, Mrs. Adenike Fasina, who was represented by Mr. Muyiwa Olagoke, Permanent Secretary, Career Management Service, applauded the centre and reiterated government backing for more staff development.
She tied the training to the state’s move toward a paperless system.
“The state government is migrating from conventional administration to a virtual system; everything will soon be online. We are coming with Business Process Automation. Through our Management Information System Centre, we are encouraging more computer training, starting with beginners, but soon, all Oyo State workers will become experts,” Adelabu said.
She added that the sessions were not just theory, but tailored to real government work.
“This training is specifically designed to equip participants with practical digital skills relevant to public-sector governance,” Adelabu added.
