Transcorp Hotels Plc has graduated the 16th cohort of women under its Business Empowerment Programme (BEP) for Women, reinforcing the company’s commitment to expanding economic opportunities and promoting sustainable livelihoods through skills development.
The BEP is one of Transcorp Hotels’ flagship sustainability initiatives. The six-month corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme equips young women with practical training in tailoring, business management, financial literacy, marketing, and customer service, preparing them for successful entrepreneurship.
Since its inception in 2016 in partnership with ACE Charity, the Business Empowerment Programme for Women (BEPW) has empowered 64 young women with practical skills, confidence, and the resources required to establish businesses and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
To support the immediate launch of their enterprises, Transcorp Hotels provides each graduate with sewing machines and other essential start-up tools at the completion of the programme.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Uzoamaka Oshogwe, said the initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to creating value beyond the hospitality industry.
“We believe hospitality goes beyond the experiences we create within our hotels. Through this programme, we are investing in young women, supporting entrepreneurship, creating social and economic impact, and promoting sustainability.
“We are proud of the 16th cohort of graduates and look forward to the businesses they will build, the jobs they will create, and the positive impact they will have on their communities and Nigeria’s economy,” she said.
