The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has announced the dates and designated centres for the 2026 Directorate-Level Promotion Examination, with the local leg scheduled to hold from September 21 to 23 across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Commission also announced that the foreign leg of the examination will take place on October 10, 2026, in Ottawa, Canada; London, United Kingdom; Beijing, China; and Cairo, Egypt, as part of efforts to ensure eligible civil servants are assessed for promotion through a transparent and orderly process.
Ibraheem Zakariyya, Head of Press and Public Relations of the FCSC, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.
According to Zakariyya, the examination is being conducted in line with Circular Ref. No. FC.6243/GOV/2026/VOL.III/22, dated September 8, 2026, and signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa.
Zakariyya quoted Olaopa as informing all accredited candidates of the scheduled dates for both the local and foreign legs of the examination.
Olaopa advised candidates to carefully check the examination date stated on their examination cards and report to their designated centres by 7:00 a.m. prompt.
He said the local examination would hold from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, for candidates across all applicable grade levels.
According to him, the examination will be conducted at designated centres across the six geopolitical zones and the FCT.
The designated centres are Lafia, Nasarawa State, for the North-Central zone; Kaduna, Kaduna State, for the North-West; and Bauchi, Bauchi State, for the North-East.
Others are Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for the South-South; Ibadan, Oyo State, for the South-West; Enugu, Enugu State, for the South-East; and Abuja, FCT, for the FCT and Commission headquarters.
Olaopa urged candidates to sit for the examination only at the venue specifically indicated on their examination identity cards.
“The Commission therefore urges all accredited candidates to verify their examination details ahead of time and make adequate arrangements to arrive at their respective centres early to avoid any inconvenience,” he said.
He further announced that the foreign leg of the examination is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026.
He said the foreign examination centres will be located in Ottawa, Canada; London, United Kingdom; Beijing, China; and Cairo, Egypt, as indicated in the official timetable.
Olaopa reiterated the Commission’s commitment to ensuring a transparent, orderly and credible promotion examination process.
He also called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers and Chief Executive Officers concerned to ensure that the contents of the circular are brought to the attention of all affected officers for strict compliance.
