No fewer than 102 officers of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) have been elevated to higher grade levels in a promotion exercise that cements the agency’s integration into the state’s civil service structure.
The promotion, which cuts across four categories, was celebrated at a decoration ceremony held on Thursday at the Local Government Staff Training Hall, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who was represented by the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Olabode Ladipo, said the exercise was a recognition of quality service.
He noted that the officers had been carefully observed and found worthy of elevation, describing the development as proof of OYRTMA’s institutional growth.
“The promotions further affirm the full integration of OYRTMA into the core civil service structure of Oyo.
“The officers advancing to Grade Levels 13, 12, 10 and nine are now fully recognised within the state’s civil service, and this development has come to stay. Some of the newly promoted officers will rise to the highest levels of service in the coming years,” the governor said.
He urged the beneficiaries to remain diligent in their duties of reducing road carnage and ensuring safer road use.
Also speaking, the Head of Service, Adenike Fashina, who was represented by the General Manager of the State Fire Service Agency, Akinyinka Adeyemi, congratulated the officers and charged them to sustain their commitment to the state.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of OYRTMA, Major Adekoya Adesagba (retd.), who appreciated Governor Makinde for approving the promotion and prioritising staff welfare, gave a breakdown of the exercise.
According to him, “25 officers [were] elevated from Principal Road Traffic Officer to Assistant Chief Road Traffic Officer (GL 12 to 13); 11 officers [were] promoted from Principal Road Traffic Superintendent II to Principal Road Traffic Superintendent I (GL 10 to 12); 16 officers [were] upgraded from Road Traffic Superintendent to Principal Road Traffic Superintendent II (GL 9 to 10); 50 officers [were] promoted from Road Traffic Officer II to Road Traffic Officer I (GL 8 to 9).”
Adesagba said the promotion was a call to higher responsibility, urging the officers to redouble their commitment to free traffic flow and safety as worthy ambassadors of the Authority.
