Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited has partnered with Junior Achievement Nigeria (JAN) to equip more than 600 young Nigerians with digital skills to improve their employability and entrepreneurship opportunities.
The beneficiaries will participate in a 10-day Digital Bootcamp Programme across Ondo, Abuja, Rivers and Kaduna states, with training focused on practical skills needed in the digital economy.
The programme will provide practical training in project management, data analysis, cybersecurity, UI/UX design, IT support and digital marketing.
The initiative targets graduates, National Youth Service Corps members, women and young people from low-income communities as the partners seek to address digital skills gaps and expand access to opportunities in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
Speaking on the partnership, Olaolu Akogun, Acting Executive Director, JAN, said collaboration between organisations could create lasting impact by preparing young Nigerians for emerging opportunities.
“Strong partnerships create lasting impact. We are proud to partner with Standard Chartered in expanding access to digital skills training for young Nigerians.
“This investment demonstrates a shared commitment to building a workforce that is ready for the opportunities of the digital age,” Akogun said.
The programme aligns with the Standard Chartered Foundation’s focus on improving youth employability and economic participation by providing underserved young people with the skills, knowledge and networks needed for the future workforce.
The partnership will also enable employees of Standard Chartered Bank to mentor participants and share their professional expertise through the bank’s Skills-Based Volunteering programme.
Joke Adu, Head, Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, said investing in future-ready skills was important to supporting communities.
“We believe that empowering young people with future-ready skills is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in our communities.
“Through this partnership with Junior Achievement Nigeria, we are helping to equip over 600 young Nigerians with practical digital capabilities that are increasingly essential for employment, entrepreneurship, and economic participation,” Adu said.
She said the bank would contribute the expertise of its employees beyond financial support through skills-based volunteering.
“Beyond funding, we are also proud to contribute the expertise of our people through skills-based volunteering, reinforcing our commitment to creating sustainable opportunities and supporting the next generation of leaders, innovators and changemakers,” she said.
The partners said the programme would strengthen Nigeria’s digital talent pipeline as technology continues to reshape industries and transform workforce requirements.
They added that the initiative reflected Standard Chartered’s commitment to economic inclusion and community programmes promoting education, employability and entrepreneurship.
