The Kano State Transport Authority, Kano Line, has recruited 100 casual workers as part of preparations to expand its operations and modernise its fleet with compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered vehicles.
The State Commissioner for Transport, Haruna Isa, announced the recruitment on Wednesday in Kano during a capacity-building workshop organised for staff.
Isa said the appointments form part of broader reforms aimed at repositioning the state’s transport sector to deliver more efficient and reliable services.
“The training is necessary as Kano Line prepares to introduce compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered vehicles into its fleet. All staff must be adequately prepared for the transition,” he said.
He urged the newly recruited workers and existing employees to use the training to acquire the skills required for modern transport operations.
The Chairman of the Kano Line Resuscitation Committee, Saidu Abdullahi, said the workshop was designed to equip staff with the knowledge and competencies needed to address contemporary challenges in the transport sector.
He also commended the state government for its continued investment in infrastructure and the ongoing renovation of the agency’s facilities.
During the event, Isa presented employment letters to the 100 newly recruited casual workers.
Abdullahi assured employees that management would continue to prioritise staff welfare to enhance productivity, adding that the recruitment exercise is intended to strengthen operational capacity as Kano Line upgrades and expands its fleet.
