The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has disowned a recruitment notice circulating online in the name of the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), warning job seekers to disregard it.
In a public notice titled “Fraudulent Recruitment Notice” posted on its official X account on Monday, the NRS said the notice, headlined “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement”, was circulating on social media and other platforms.
The notice purportedly advertises employment opportunities and directs applicants to submit their information to recruit@replacementnhrmt.org
“The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service,” the agency said.
The service reminded the public that FIRS had been succeeded by the NRS.
It also said it had neither authorised nor commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and had not appointed any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct recruitment on its behalf.
“Accordingly, any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified,” the NRS said.
The agency advised members of the public to disregard the notice and exercise caution when responding to recruitment-related messages, links or requests for personal information.
It said any legitimate recruitment exercise by the NRS would be formally communicated through its official website and authorised communication channels.
The NRS urged job seekers to verify recruitment information through those channels before taking any action.
