The Employment Relations and Human Resource Management Students’ Association (ERHRMSA) at the University of Lagos is set to host the fifth edition of its flagship human capital conference, EDGE 5.0, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos.
The conference, themed “HR in Motion: People Practices in the Age of Continuous Change,” is designed to prepare students, HR professionals and business leaders for the evolving world of work through discussions on contemporary people management practices and emerging workplace trends.
Announcing the event, the association said this year’s edition will bring together academics, industry experts, HR practitioners and business leaders to examine how organisations can build resilient, people-centred workplaces amid rapid technological advancement and shifting workforce expectations.
According to the organisers, the conference seeks to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry while equipping participants with practical knowledge and insights to navigate the future of human capital development.
ERHRMSA noted that EDGE has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading student-led human capital conferences, providing a platform for meaningful conversations that bridge classroom learning with real-world HR practice. The association said the conference continues to help participants develop the skills, knowledge and professional networks required to thrive in today’s dynamic workplace.
This year’s programme will feature keynote addresses alongside two panel discussions. The first session, titled “Agile HR: Navigating People, Technology and Change,”will explore how organisations can respond effectively to rapid technological innovation, evolving employee expectations and organisational transformation.
The second panel, “Generation in Motion,” will examine the opportunities and challenges of managing a multigenerational workforce, with discussions focusing on leadership strategies for engaging employees across different age groups.
Participants will also hear from respected HR professionals and thought leaders, including Oga HR, Ibene Okeleke and Emmanuel Samuel, who are expected to share practical insights drawn from their industry experience.
Speaking on the vision behind the conference, the Project Head of EDGE 5.0, Omotolani Olufowobi, said the initiative was established to ensure conversations about people management keep pace with the changing realities of the workplace.
“The world of work is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and the conversations around people and organisations must evolve with it. EDGE 5.0 was conceived to create a platform where students, academics and industry leaders can come together to exchange ideas, challenge conventional thinking and explore innovative people practices that respond to today’s realities. Beyond the conversations, we want every participant to leave inspired, equipped with practical insights and empowered to contribute meaningfully to the future of human capital development,” Olufowobi said.
The organisers said the conference is open to participants from the University of Lagos, Lagos State University (LASU), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) and other tertiary institutions, as well as HR practitioners, business professionals and individuals interested in the future of work.
According to ERHRMSA, EDGE 5.0 aims to promote innovation, foster collaboration and prepare the next generation of HR professionals to lead confidently as organisations adapt to technological disruption, changing workforce expectations and new ways of working.
The association added that registration remains open and encouraged interested participants to register through the conference’s official platform while following its communication channels for updates on speakers, programme details and other event activities.
