Kwara Extends 30% Peculiar Allowance to More Workers, Pays May Salaries Early

By Mariam Aligbeh

The Kwara State Government has approved a 30 per cent peculiar allowance for workers in agencies, parastatals, and media organisations that had previously not benefited from the payment, in a move aimed at improving employee welfare and promoting equity across the state public service.

The Acting Head of Service, Dr. Olufunke Shittu, announced the approval in a statement issued on Monday in Ilorin by her Press Secretary, Mr. Okanlawon Solomon.

According to the statement, the allowance will take effect from June 1. It noted that some employees within the mainstream civil service had already been receiving the benefit.

The government said the approval reflects the administration’s sustained commitment to workers’ welfare, fairness, and inclusiveness across the state workforce.

According to the statement, the measure also underscores Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s dedication to improving the wellbeing, motivation, and morale of employees throughout Kwara State.

The statement commended the governor for his consistent support for workers and his commitment to policies that promote fairness, productivity, and improved service delivery within the civil service.

It also urged employees in the affected agencies and establishments to remain diligent, committed, and supportive of government initiatives designed to drive development across the state.

In addition, the government disclosed that May salaries were paid ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to enable workers to mark the festive period comfortably with their families.
