The Edo State Government has launched Betaawork, a digital job-matching and workforce development platform designed to connect skilled professionals with verified job and service opportunities.
The platform was unveiled at an event held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy.
Speaking at the launch, Mrs. Onomen Briggs, Chairman of the Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (BTVET), described the initiative as a significant step towards bridging the gap between skills acquisition and employment.
Mrs. Briggs said digital platforms such as Betaawork demonstrate how technology can effectively link vocational training with real employment opportunities by connecting skilled professionals with credible jobs.
According to her, such innovations are critical for building a productive workforce and empowering citizens.
She added that the platform aligns with the state government’s SHINE agenda, particularly in advancing human capital development, job creation, and economic empowerment.
Mrs. Briggs also commended Mr. Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, for creating an enabling environment that allows private organisations to contribute to skills development and economic growth.
She praised Genius Hub, the organisation behind the platform, for empowering thousands of young people through skills development programmes.
Genius Hub is a technical and vocational education and training centrecertified by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
Speaking at the event, Mr. Isimeme Whyte, founder of Genius Hub, thanked members of the organisation for their efforts in developing the Betaawork platform.
Mr. Whyte said the initiative aims to promote dignified employment by linking skilled professionals with credible work opportunities.
In his keynote address, Mr. Amarachi Kalu, Nigeria Country Lead for the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, highlighted the role of digital platforms in expanding access to jobs and strengthening youth employment initiatives.
The event featured the official unveiling of the Betaawork platform, alongside panel discussions, demonstrations, and stakeholder engagements focused on improving access to employment opportunities through technology.
