8,000 FCTA Staff Face Digital Exams as Administration Speeds Up 2024 Promotions

By Mariam Aligbeh

More than 8,000 civil servants in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will sit for their 2024 promotion examinations this week in Abuja. The Computer-Based Tests (CBT), covering 165 cadres, will run from Tuesday to Saturday at the National Open University Study Centre along Kubwa Road. Officials say the exercise is designed to accelerate the promotion process and entrench digital assessment systems.

The Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, announced the development on Sunday. He said the exercise had been approved by the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, as part of efforts to motivate workers and conclude the 2024 promotion cycle in good time. According to him, the CBT method enhances transparency and efficiency across all cadres.

“The FCT Minister, as part of staff motivation, approved the request of the FCT Civil Service Commission to quickly conclude the 2024 promotion exercise of FCT/FCDA workers across all cadres,” Mr. Ezeh said.

He added that the CBT process would deepen the new digital platform introduced for promotion assessments, noting that the FCTA under Minister Wike had “blazed the trail as the first commission in Nigeria to conduct its promotion by CBT.”

Mr. Ezeh recalled that Minister Wike had earlier approved the promotion of 49 Directors in August after they successfully passed a similar CBT-based examination conducted by the commission.
