Kaduna Trains Top Civil Servants to Improve Public Service Delivery

By Mariam Aligbeh

The Kaduna State Government has commenced a three-day leadership and management training for top civil servants to strengthen their administrative skills, improve institutional performance and enhance service delivery across the state.

Speaking at the training in Kaduna on Tuesday, the State Head of Service, Mrs Jummai Bako, said the programme was designed to sharpen the administrative competencies of senior officers and improve accountability, staff monitoring and the implementation of government policies.

Bako said the training was in line with the need for sustainable leadership and management solutions in the public service.

She explained that improving the competencies of officers at the leadership level would directly improve service delivery, particularly in accountability and the monitoring of staff activities.

The Head of Service expressed optimism that the capacity-building programme would reposition the state’s workforce to successfully drive the administration’s policy reforms.

She emphasised that directorate-level personnel were not merely administrators but strategic managers responsible for personnel, public resources and policy execution.

According to her, good governance provides policy direction, while effective management delivers positive results for citizens.

Bako said participants would receive training in areas including participatory leadership, professional ethics, public service communication and inter-agency collaboration.

She urged participants to apply the knowledge and experience gained during the training to promote discipline and efficient service delivery in their respective ministries, departments and agencies.

Some participants, including Mr Kure Saidu of the Ministry of Finance and Fatima Ibrahim of the Bureau of Statistics, commended the initiative, saying it would go a long way in improving their productivity.

They also promised to share the knowledge acquired with their subordinates.
