Mohammed Isimbabi, a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has facilitated permanent and pensionable appointments for six youths from his Toto/Gadabuke constituency.
Isimbabi presented the appointment letters to the beneficiaries at his office in Lafia on Monday, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) lawmaker said he had facilitated 40 appointments for people in his constituency over the past three years.
The beneficiaries were employed in the state ministries of youth and sports development, environment, and finance.
Isimbabi, who chairs the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development, said the appointments were part of his efforts to reduce unemployment and poverty in the constituency.
“What I am doing is taking unemployed youths off the streets to improve their standard of living,” he said.
He congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to demonstrate dedication and professionalism in their new roles.
The lawmaker also advised them to protect the reputation of their families and constituency through responsible conduct at work.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to pursue further education to improve their knowledge and productivity.
Isimbabi said his priority was to ensure that graduates in the constituency secured meaningful employment, while other young people acquired skills to support themselves.
He also pledged to continue working towards what he described as sound and quality representation.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Umar Shaba thanked the lawmaker for facilitating their appointments and promised that they would take their responsibilities seriously.
“Today, we are happy, we thank God and we thank you for making our dream a reality,” Shaba said.
He added that the beneficiaries would do their best to support the lawmaker.
