The Kano State Censorship Board has commenced the recruitment of new personnel after a 16-year freeze on employment, following the approval of permanent and pensionable appointments by Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf.
The Board officially presented appointment letters to 17 successful candidates on Monday at its headquarters in Kano, describing the exercise as a significant step towards strengthening its workforce and improving service delivery.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Abba El-Mustapha, said the approval marked a major milestone for the agency, which had not recruited new staff since 2010. He explained that the exercise covered both the recruitment of new personnel and the confirmation of qualified casual workers into permanent positions.
El-Mustapha said the governor’s approval reflected the administration’s commitment to improving citizens’ welfare and strengthening public institutions under the Kano First Agenda.
According to him, the recruitment will enhance the Board’s capacity to discharge its statutory responsibilities more effectively.
“The approval will go a long way in boosting the capacity of the Board and ensuring effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities,” he said.
The Executive Secretary urged the newly appointed employees to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, discipline, and dedication, stressing that public service demands commitment, accountability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
He also encouraged the new staff to contribute positively to the Board’s objectives and uphold excellence in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malam Ali Unguwa-Uku expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir-Yusuf and the Executive Secretary for the opportunity to serve.
Unguwa-Uku assured the government that the newly recruited employees would justify the confidence reposed in them through loyalty, hard work, and dedication to their responsibilities.
