Delta Approves 13th-Month Salary for Civil Servants to Reward Performance and Boost Morale

By Samuel Ogunsona

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the payment of a 13th-month salary for all civil servants in the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to employee welfare and workforce motivation.

The announcement was made on Tuesday during the 2026 Public Service Week Dinner and Awards Night in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The event, themed “Reforms, Resilience and Results,” was described by the governor as closely aligned with his administration’s MORE Agenda.

Oborevwori said meaningful public sector reforms can only be sustained when employees are adequately motivated, equipped, and supported.

According to the governor, “Meaningful reforms can only succeed when workers are properly motivated, equipped, and supported through policies that promote their welfare and professional growth.”

He added that improving the welfare of civil servants remains a key priority of his administration.

“When I see any memo concerning the welfare of civil servants, I always approve it because I know the importance of having over 60,000 workers standing with this administration,” he said.
