Oando Foundation has opened applications for its Green Youth Upskilling Programme, an initiative designed to equip young Nigerians with practical skills required for the country’s growing green economy.
The programme, implemented in partnership with the Nigeria Climate Innovation Centre, will run for nine months and provide training in renewable energy, waste management, and sustainable mobility.
According to Ms. Tonia Uduimoh, Head of Oando Foundation, the initiative reflects the increasing need to prepare young Nigerians for emerging sectors critical to the country’s future development.
“Nigeria’s development trajectory will increasingly depend on how effectively we equip young people with skills that align with emerging sectors,” Uduimoh said.
“Our focus is to scale access and ensure more young Nigerians are positioned to participate meaningfully in this transition.”
The foundation stated that the first cohort trained 25 young Nigerians and awarded ₦20 million in seed funding to top-performing participants to support the launch of green businesses.
The programme will feature technical training, mentorship, and hands-on apprenticeship opportunities, while outstanding participants will receive funding and equipment support to aid enterprise development.
Eligible applicants must be Nigerian citizens aged between 18 and 35 years, possess at least a secondary school qualification, and demonstrate an interest in green or technical fields.
“The programme is designed for individuals with foundational knowledge or a strong interest in building skills and pursuing opportunities within the green economy. Applications are now open to eligible candidates across Nigeria,” the foundation added.
Interested applicants were advised to apply through the programme portal.
