Police Recruitment Enters CBT Phase as PSC Schedules Nationwide Tests for April 28–30

The next phase of recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force will commence later this month, with shortlisted candidates set to undertake a Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBT) between April 28 and 30, 2026.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) confirmed that the exercise will be conducted simultaneously across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, marking a critical step in the force’s talent selection pipeline.

The CBT follows the ongoing physical and credentials screening exercise, which is scheduled to conclude on April 18.

Providing further details on Thursday, the Sokoto State Police Command spokesperson, Mr. Ahmad Rufa’i, described the upcoming test as a decisive filter in the recruitment process.

“The Computer-Based Aptitude Test is a critical phase designed to ensure that only suitably qualified candidates are recruited into the Nigeria Police Force,” he said.

Rufa’i explained that the duration of the exercise would vary across states, depending on candidate volume and the availability of functional CBT centres.

“The scheduling is flexible to accommodate operational realities across states, but every eligible candidate will be given a fair opportunity to participate,” he added.

While specific test venues and the final list of eligible candidates have yet to be released, applicants have been advised to avoid speculation and await official communication.

“Candidates are advised to remain patient and rely only on information from official channels. Details of venues and shortlisted candidates will be communicated in due course,” Rufa’i stated.

The police also cautioned against misinformation, stressing that all legitimate updates regarding the recruitment process would be disseminated exclusively through verified channels.

The recruitment exercise is aimed at strengthening the workforce and enhancing the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force, in line with broader public-sector human capital development objectives.
