Johnvents Group, an indigenous agribusiness and manufacturing firm, has taken a significant step towards empowering young women in Nigeria by engaging 103 female secondary school students from 19 schools in a targeted initiative to promote STEM education.
The programme, tagged “Gain to Give”, aims to inspire and equip the next generation of female leaders in science, technology, engineering, and manufacturing.
Through the initiative, the students participated in guided tours of Johnvents Group’s manufacturing facilities, attended motivational talks delivered by senior women leaders, and engaged in interactive sessions with the company’s team.
The programme is designed to provide exposure and mentorship to young women, encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM fields.
“When a young girl walks through a factory floor and sees what is possible, something changes in her,” said Caroline Omotosho, Managing Director of Johnvents Industries Limited.
“That is the return we are investing in, and it is one that will outlast any single programme or financial quarter.”
The programme forms part of Johnvents Group’s commitment to investing in the next generation of female talent and promoting diversity within the industrial sector.
The company plans to expand the initiative in subsequent years, with the aim of further empowering young women and bridging the gender gap in STEM.
