Taraba, NSITF Seal Partnership to Boost Employees’ Compensation Compliance

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund and the Taraba State Government have entered into a landmark partnership aimed at strengthening compliance with employees’ compensation regulations.

The initiative is designed to protect workers’ rights and promote industrial harmony across the state.

The Managing Director of NSITF, Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, met with Governor Agbu Kefas on February 26, 2026, to discuss effective implementation of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS).

Faleye said the scheme is critical to safeguarding workers’ dignity and ensuring stability for employers. “When a worker is injured, disabled, or loses his life in the course of duty, the response of the government defines public trust and reinforces confidence in leadership,” he stated.

The partnership will expand ECS compliance across state ministries, departments, and agencies, while also sensitising major employers and contractors on their obligations under the scheme.

Governor Kefas welcomed the initiative and pledged the state’s commitment to fulfilling all ECS obligations. He approved the establishment of a high-powered committee to drive implementation and disclosed that the state had paid ₦5 billion to pensioners, with outstanding entitlements expected to be cleared soon.

As part of the agreement, Kefas was conferred with the title of Ambassador and Advocate of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme in Taraba State and the North-East.

The partnership is expected to enhance industrial harmony, reduce litigation risks, and strengthen structured social protection in the state.
