The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has promoted and decorated 265 officers in Kano State following their successful performance in the 2025 promotion examination, urging them to regard the elevation as a call to higher responsibility and greater service.

The decoration ceremony took place on Thursday at the Kano State Command headquarters, where the leadership of the corps emphasised that the promotions were strictly based on merit, commitment, and professionalism.

Speaking at the event, the Kano State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, described the promotions as a significant milestone in the careers of the officers, noting that the new ranks come with increased responsibility and accountability. He said the exercise underscored the corps’ commitment to rewarding hard work and enhancing security operations in Kano State and across the country.

Mr. Hassan-Agalama explained that while promotion ultimately comes from God, it must be earned through dedication, integrity, and loyalty to constituted authority. He described the advancement as recognition for the officers’ steadfast commitment to protecting Nigeria.

“It is a testament to commitment to duty, integrity, and unwavering loyalty to constituted authority, and to the protection of our great nation,” he said.

The commandant noted that the newly promoted officers had consistently demonstrated strong leadership, professionalism, and competence in the discharge of their duties. He congratulated them and urged them to uphold the core values of the corps as they assume higher responsibilities.

“You are expected to continue to uphold courage, diligence, and professionalism. Your actions and decisions will now carry even greater weight as you assume higher responsibilities within the command,” he added.

Mr. Hassan-Agalama also advised the officers to approach the new phase of their careers with humility and renewed determination to improve service delivery. He commended the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, and the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for their commitment to staff welfare and career progression.

He further appreciated the support of stakeholders and security agencies in Kano State, thanking members of sister security agencies, captains of industry, and special guests who attended the ceremony. The commandant also acknowledged the Member representing Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency, Mr. Abdulhakim Kamilu-Ado, for his support for the corps and his presence at the event.

Mr. Kamilu-Ado, who served as the Special Guest of Honour, said promotion is a reflection of dedication, service, and commitment to peace and security. According to him, officers earn promotion by investing their time, energy, and expertise in safeguarding Kano State and Nigeria at large.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ACC Shitu Muhammad-Dangora expressed gratitude to the management of the NSCDC for finding them worthy of promotion and pledged their continued commitment to duty.
