Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has presented a two-bedroom bungalow and the keys to a brand-new car to Mr. Solanke Francis Taiwo, the Overall Best Primary School Teacher in Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Mr. Taiwo, who emerged as the nation’s top primary school teacher, was also awarded a ₦50 million cash prize by the Federal Government at the National Teachers’ Summit in Abuja.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, was attended by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbagbu, and the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Oloko.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, outlining ongoing plans for continuous teacher training and retraining through workshops, seminars, and digitisation initiatives.

“This administration has done so much across all the pillars of education. The declaration of emergency in the education sector led to far-reaching reforms covering curriculum development, school management, technology and innovation, infrastructure, funding, and students’ and teachers’ welfare,” Prof. Arigbagbu said.

Arigbagbu attributed the teacher’s national recognition to the Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda, which is structured around six pillars, with particular emphasis on students’ and teachers’ welfare.

“When you do things consistently and efficiently, you will definitely continue to get results. We have been winning the Best Teacher Award back-to-back,” he added.
