A new grassroots movement, Working People United, has emerged with a mandate to mobilise Nigerian workers and advocate policies that promote economic stability, national development, and the welfare of the working class.
Launched in Abuja, the movement aims to galvanise citizens across sectors to shape the country’s future and sustain national progress. The Coordinator of the movement, Mr. Williams Akporeha, emphasised the need for collective action, saying the group was committed to ensuring leadership that prioritises national development and the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
“The movement’s mission is to ensure the continuation of leadership that prioritises national development, economic stability, and the welfare of the masses,” Akporeha said.
Akporeha highlighted what he described as the reforms and policies of the current administration, noting that they demonstrate “courage, foresight, and commitment to building a stronger Nigeria”.
He cited initiatives such as expanded social investment programmes and direct cash transfers that are supporting millions of low-income households across the country.
“Policies aimed at improving access to credit for small businesses, traders, and artisans are gradually expanding economic opportunities at the grassroots level,” Akporeha said.
He urged Nigerians to reject divisive politics and instead embrace responsible citizenship, constructive dialogue, and a collective national purpose.
The movement, according to him, seeks to empower citizens with verified information and a shared vision for a better Nigeria, while also promoting stronger engagement between government and the people.
Akporeha emphasised the importance of sustaining national progress, particularly as the country prepares for next year’s general elections.
Working People United has therefore called on Nigerians to join the movement in pursuit of a stronger and more stable nation.
